TGIF

I could type about waiting on the bus for 38 minutes in the rain, and then guessing that we had somehow missed it, and waiting in parent drive for 25 minutes, almost seeing a wreck in parent drive because someone didn't want to wait in line and drove down the wrong side of the road ALMOST causing a head on collision, then passing the bus 10 minutes AFTER school had started..... but I won't.
I could type about why there are not one, but THREE new speed bumps on parent drive this year, or why people don't pull all the way through the drop off zone so nine cars can unload at one time.... but I won't.
I could type about the bus route getting changed this far into the school year with a different number, driver and route all rolled into one, or how she continues to drop my children off at the wrong driveway so that they have to cross the street in front of the house instead of at the back where it is safer..... but I won't.
Instead I will focus on the positive. It is Friday. Wyatt has a sleepover birthday party to attend this evening, and Levi has a school dance. We can sleep late in the morning, and have pancakes. Hopefully we will finish the dreaded book report, and half of a major school project.
TGIF!

Island Packing

As some of you know we had to change our plans for next week unexpectedly. After one day of pouting and disappointment, I buckled down and started searching for a place to stay. We found several houses on Oak Island, but decided to go a different route. Bald Head was calling my name. We have wanted to go back ever since our day trip over 11 years ago. For two days straight, I searched the internet for a listing available. I talked to three reality companies and basically had them laugh at me. It seems some houses are booked two years in advance for the week of the fourth. Finally, I found a sight where owners list their own homes. I found a villa that was available from Sunday to Saturday. I called the owner, who happens to live in Charlotte, and we got a great discount. Bald Head is a golf cart community, and I am looking forward to no car for several days. On the down side, the new ferry has new rules. Everything you pack must be contained in coolers, or suitcases or Rubbermaid containers. Large items (bikes, kayaks, surf boards) cost extra. My biggest fear is that we will leave something in the car accidentally, like the charger for the iPhone, and have to pay another 15 dollars to ride back over with it, lol. So, I am in the process of thinking through everything needed and trying to get it into the suitcases, one cooler, and one Rubbermaid thing. Stay posted, this could get interesting! P.S. Do they sell Diet SunDrop on the island? Guess I need TWO Rubbermaid things. ;)

Last Name?

We follow a boy almost all the way home from preschool. I told the buddies to ask him what his last name was so we could set up a play date.

G- I know Mason's last name.
Me- What is it?
G- Mayonnaise.
Me- What?
G- Mayonnaise.
Me- I don't know what you are saying buddy.
G- MAY-O-NNAISE!
Me- Let me turn the radio down, it sounded like you said mayonnaise.
S- He did.
Me- Mayonnaise?
G- Yep. That's his name.
Me- His name is Mason MAYONNAISE?
S- Yep.
Me- He told you that his name was Mason Mayonnaise?
G- Nooooooo, Paige told me that was his name.
S- Yep, she did. And HER name is Paige Mustard.
Me- I see. So if he is Mason Mayonnaise, and she is Paige Mustard, then I am Shannon Ketchup.
Buddies- (laughing) Oh man! That isn't his real name is it?
Me- Not even close.
S- Boy, Paige got me good!!!!

Mom's Life

Wednesday morning after the usual hustle and bustle, I had to.....
drop Wyatt off at the elementary school on parent drive
stop by the library to return books
take the buddies to preschool
halfway to preschool realize that I forgot to put my make-up on
guess it could be worse, I could still have my fuzzy red slippers on
go home for 45 minutes
wash a load of clothes
fold a load of clothes
put my make-up on
go BACK to Mount for a conference at the middle school
go home for 15 minutes
go to preschool for the buddies Christmas program
back home again
put another load into the washing machine
Whew..... and it was only 12:30!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!!!!!
We gave the boys their Valentines this morning.  They also received ones in the mail from Great Grandmama and Aunt Leigh, and a bag of goodies from Grandmama.  So they were pretty hyped up at 7am.  Wouldn't want to be a teacher today, that's for sure!  The big boys made Valentine boxes for their classes.  L even had to do it.  His teacher required it and said it was for a grade, and ALSO turned it into a contest.  So we made a red Dodge truck out of our box.  It looked pretty good, if I do say so myself.  She also told all of the kids that this was their LAST year for Valentines at school (next year is middle school) and they should all enjoy every last bit of it.  I love Mrs. Duke so much.
For my Valentine, the husband sent me an e-card, and THEN took the Suburban to the dealership to get my speedometer fixed.  (note here.... yes he could have done it himself, but it was under warranty)  So I didn't have to spend two hours in a waiting room with two hyper four year olds who just so happened to have Pez for breakfast.  That is true love.
Hugs and kisses to all!
