First Match

Okay, let me just preface this by saying that before last Thursday, I had never been to a wrestling match in my life. Wyatt, G and I went to the middle school to watch Mount take on J. N. Fries Middle School. We had no more sat in the bleachers when the opposing team took the mats. They were wearing matching warm up suits, with their hoods on. They warmed up with military precision, with much clapping, hooting and hollering in unison. It was quite the show. Then OUR boys came out onto the mats to warm up. They looked like the Bad News Bears. It was like the coach had said, "If you have ANYTHING that says 'Mount Pleasant'...... wear it." Our boys couldn't do a push up in unison if they tried. Some of them acted like they didn't even know the warm up routine. I thought to myself.... this is going to be BAD. Then, the first match started. The first weight class is 83. A little, wiry boy walked out onto the mat, and pinned the opposing dude in less than a minute. It was pretty much like that the rest of the two hours. The final score was Mount Pleasant 60-something, to J. N. Fries 18. WOW!

Just goes to show, just because you LOOK good...... doesn't mean you ARE good. Can't wait for Tuesday!

I grew up in a community that always sent 5 or more guys to the state wrestling tournaments... LOVED it! Enjoy it!

He didn't win his class last week, so he didn't represent that weight group. Tonight he got to do a pre-lem and won. He was AWESOME!!!

I know absolutely nothing about wrestling. I have never been to a match either, but I'm glad they did great! Way to go!

That's cool!

Eli was reciting his verses just from his sunday school class. They teach the kids a verse, but most don't even pay enough attention to it.
The lady last Sunday said, "He knows his verse for this month, and it's only the 2nd sunday!"
I was proud of him. He just picks things up quickly.

My sweet, sweet Flanders Kids! "iron helps us play" ;0)
