So glad you posted this because I have been meaning to ask you another City Girl question.

Our church is - literally - in the middle of a corn field. This summer, we've watched the corn grow and then ripen and the stalks get nice and green and tall. And then a month or so ago, I noticed the corn wasn't on the stalks anymore. But I'm confused as to how it got OFF the stalk. The stalks were still as high as ever, but there was no visible sign of a thresher or any machine that might have come through to take the ears of corn off the stalks. Are they hand picked?

This week, the corn stalks were cut to the ground and the field is bare again.

Humor the City Girl, okay? Let me know how corn is harvested.

Elizabeth, did they pick the corn when the stalks were green? If so it was hand picked. Then they bush hogged the stalks. Our corn is feed corn so we harvest it when the stalks are dead and the ears are dry and hard. Combine video coming up.
