Tuesday

Tuesday morning I called the school.

Me- Hey. I am Shannon, I came yesterday to enroll my twins and was turned away.
Lady- Yes?
Me- I have the tax record for our home, and as I thought it does not have our address on it.
Lady- Ummmmm......
Me- Because the owner does not get his mail here.
Lady- What does it say?
Me- It has the coordinates for the property. Do you know how to look them up on the Cabarrus County GIS?
Lady- Ummmm....
Me- Because it isn't so easy. We have to look up land on there all the time to report new acreage to the FSA, it's a pain.
Lady- You need to bring the owner up here.
Me- That isn't really fair to him. These aren't even his kids. I wrote the superintendent last night and am waiting on his reply before I drag the whole family up there.
Lady- Okay.

Then I called the county office to check on the e-mail, and make sure it had been read. FIVE minutes later the school called me back.

Lady- Mrs. Barrier?
Me- Yes?
Lady- Do you have anything with your name and address on it?
Me- Ma'am...... I brought all of that yesterday and y'all said NO.
Lady- Ummm, yeah, the county office just called and told us to get this worked out. Anything with your address is okay.
Me- Thanks. That's what I thought.

When I went back to the school the original "lady" that kept saying NO, had sense enough not to talk to me. There was another mom from the buddies preschool balling her eyes out because she was being turned away. I looked right at her and said....

"I am so sorry. I feel your pain. Yesterday they told us we didn't live where we live."

Then I made direct eye contact with Mrs. No. Sometimes it is better to leave it at that.

Yay! I'm so glad you got it worked out. Those people at the office just sound mean!

I glad it was all worked out in the end. Why is it that people who work in offices like that have the least amount of customer service skills?

Glad you got it all worked out. Although you were nicer about it than I would've been. I would've said to the bawling lady "Just call the county. They'll get results for you." And looked at Mrs. No as I said it. I'm mean and vindictive like that though.
