Building Birdhouses

The buddies got these little wooden birdhouses for Christmas from Grandma Debra.  They came in seven pieces that you glue together and then paint.
To the company that makes these I say, "Ha,ha,ha,ha, ha, and a great big HA" to you.  The watered down white substance you provide and call "glue" wouldn't hold two pieces of tissue paper together.  The instructions say if you don't want to to glue it, then nail it.
We got out my hammer (yes I have my own, and I hide it from the hubs or it would travel to the shop and I would never see it again).  The kit came with.... wait for it..... FOUR nails.  Four.  Remember it has seven pieces.
So, if you see one of these in a store just remember to hot glue it together.  Where would we be without hot glue?  Remember, I hot glue everything.  If hot glue won't work, we pull out the gorilla glue.   Amazing stuff, but back to the regularly scheduled program.
After you assemble.... you paint.  I recommend a John Deere hat to get the creativity flowing.  Don't all geniuses look better in green?  And wax paper, that paint is not water paint, it is the real deal.

too cute. Graham would agree about looking better in green. I think all craft kits like these come with terrible glue/adhesive. Using hot glue had to be way easier.

Those houses don't come with enough nails ever, I don't think. I hide my own tools from my husband too! Cause you are right, if you don't they just disappear!

Okay, for all you non-creative types like me: never, never, never use hot glue. It is too dangerous. The only time I ever hot-glued was making those angels that Lynn Taylor taught us to make. You had to hot glue the angel's hair on. I had angel hair hotglued to my hand for days, and then my hand got stuck in the angel's head, which made her look rather bald after I finally extricated my hand! If God had intended for me to hot-glue anything he would have given me at least one ounce of creativitiy, instead He gave it all to my daughters and daughter-in-law.

The twins look so cute! I hope they enjoyed putting them together. I know they were cheap, but, it was something to do with their hands.
Let me see the finished product.

My tools have either a light blue handle or a light pink handle - now before you laugh - when they go missing - which they tend to do - I can easily find them in hubby's tool box and reclaim them.

Hot Glue? Excellent advice...

I have spoken about getting pink tools. The hubs admitted that it wouldn't matter, if he needed it he would use a pink hammer, lol.
