Painted the doors, trim , and ductwork with an oil based white paint.
The back treads are latex white that we mixed ourselves from what was in the freezer house, the top treads are a dark brown, and the spindles are light brown (both browns are Historical paint colors).
The beadboard slid in right behind the steps and then was caulked. The stairs don't squeak anymore. Upstairs I painted everything the light brown and all the trim matches the back treads on the stairs. NONE of the doors had been painted in the house, because we were originally going to strip them. The upstairs doors took three coats to cover, downstairs... two. Still have some touch ups to do, and then it will be finished.
Looks great, doesn't it? Wyatt asked me why we waited so long to fix it up. I replied, "Son, I really don't have a good answer for that, it should have been done BEFORE we moved in."
