Soccer

Another soccer season has come to an end for us.  I have to say, it was the best one we have ever participated in.  He actually learned allot of moves and kicks, and received one on one coaching.  The website with the field conditions was a blessing.  No driving out to Concord for a cancelled game or practice.
The smaller games were fun too.  Wyatt scored a few goals each game and would cheer teammates on.  They played five on five, plus a goalie.  So each child gets more time on the field.
There was no "run around the field three laps" for a warm-up, as you guys have seen the pics from some of the drills.  The coach even ran plays with small groups.  Imagine that!  They TAUGHT them how to PLAY the game.  Not just running around randomly.
The best part was, when they weren't in the game they were passing and trying to score on another goal.  Yeah, what a novel idea, keep the kids busy.  Color me impressed.  Coaches... you did an awesome job.  Two thumbs up for the FC Carolina Alliance.

Side note:  I know these are not soccer cleats.  He grew out of his with only two games left, so he wore Levi's baseball cleats to finish out the season.  Also, these are not goalie gloves, although they did work well as such.  They are his dirt bike gloves, but they matched and kept his hands warm.

Sounds like they really found some great coaches. I hope the coaches stick with the kids. Good coaches are hard to come by in kids' sports anymore.

Yeah, I agree. But it was the whole league. Much, much different from our small towns rec league. We will definitely be playing FCCA ball from now on.

It's nice when your kids actually learns stuff when he's playing a sport. And I didn't even notice the cleats until you pointed them out, lol.

my girls played soccer during the spring and it was hilarious to watch. They were so "out of it"!

How nice to see your son actually learn some things!

Wow--soccer is already over. I'm glad that you had a good season. I'm hoping to get the kids into soccer next year. But, in my opinion, it is pricey? With the uniform, it was like $185 . . . does that sound pricey to you? I want Elijah to get a little more grown up before we spend that kind of money on him. Hope all is well.

It was $100.00 for eight weeks, if you were new. $80.00 if you were returning and didn't need a uniform. Then you have to get the cleats, and shin guards. They also like each kid to bring their own ball. The rec league is $70.00.

Yay for Soccer!! And a great blessing to have a website to check about canceled games and practices. My boys LOVE soccer also. It's so fun watching the younger boys play but I agree it's nice when they actually catch on to the rules.
