County Line

Wednesday evening the hubs called me, because he was shelling close to the house.  It was G's turn to ride in the combine, so I only had to take three boys to soccer instead of four.  It makes a difference people, don't laugh.
I had to go to the Farm Service Agency yesterday and talk to our advisor.  She pointed out how NEITHER candidate is saying ANYTHING about agriculture, or the Farm Bill, or how the commodity market ALSO bottomed out this week.  Very scary times.  I agreed.
She also told me that she helped at the fair during agriculture days.  That is when the sixth graders go and learn about all things ag related.  She said at the end of her presentation she always asked the same question of the kids, "Who thinks they would like to be a farmer?"  No one said yes.  Why?  Three answers.... it it too hard, it is too dirty, it is too smelly.  The future is not looking too bright.

My grandparents have a huge farm...
my brother took it over but with 3 girls NONE of them were interested...I have 4 boys ...only one of mine was interested, BUT he only wants to do the business/planning part (he is in college)...funny, when they were small hard, dirty and smelly was my life! haha...oh and I do understand 3 instead of 4 to soccer makes a diff...mine have been 'forgotten' afew times...usually the 'only child' mom comes to the 'rescue'...lol
Have a great day and you are so fun to read

Thanks. We almost left someone the other week when we went out to eat. We just "assumed" everyone was already on the car. They weren't, lol.

Long family history - which I'll spare you from....
Sometimes when my grandparents complain about there being no future farmers, and I think - hmmm - maybe, just maybe you should have thought of that before you screwed over your son, whose son wanted to farm.

I hope your boys see the value in farming and are able to make a living off the farm.

Yeah, FG, we have some of that in our family too. My FIL's siblings, who don't live around here any more, sold allot of the land his father and grandfather worked a lifetime for. Never mind that it screwed over the hubs.

SO very cute. Love the one of them on the truck in a row!!

Just today - you'll be proud - we got our pumpkins at a real Farm! They had payment on the honor system so Mt. Man was explaining as he paid, etc. It was great. A cool farm - anyway, one of the Tigers said he wants to BE A FARMER!!! ;) THere you have it!
