Book Report
Levi got an assignment for a book report that they read together as a class. He had to get direct quotes from the book, and do a character report, a fake conference sheet, character quilt, about the author sheet, and many other things. The assignment was given last Friday. He started it Sunday night. Oh, and did I mention he forgot to bring the BOOK home? So, Monday morning as he was walking out the door, I reminded him to bring the book home with him. This whole thing is due today. Monday afternoon he strolls in, has his usual snack, and around 4:45 he tells me he forgot the book. Needless to say I didn't handle it too well. I mean, the book is The Sign Of The Beaver. I have NEVER read it. All I can say is thank goodness for the internet. After reading the chapter summaries, I had a grasp on the characters and the story line. We even got DIRECT QUOTES off of a ladies blog who was ranting and raving about how Indians were misrepresented in the book. One question needed a passage that was difficult and a page number. Google to the rescue. Thankfully this book is pretty popular had won some awards or he would have been up you-know-what-creek without a paddle. Long story short.... we got it done. Boys! They NEVER cease to amaze me.

Boy does that bring back memories of Shaun in public school! I wish I'd had the guts to not help him with assignments like that. Sometimes it's better to let them fail so they realize they have to plan. Don't do this for him again or I promise you'll be doing this in high school English! I remember when Shaun had a science paper to write and erased a hole in the page on the last line. This was way before computers so he had to rewrite the whole page! He cried, I cried. It was a horrible scene. Thank God those days are over. But I completely understand why you did what you did.

Yeah, I thought about it. And decided since it was the end of the year I didn't want it to effect his report card.
Glad ya'll got everything done- I do not miss my end of the semester papers at all- I procrastinate way too much.
Yikes! At least it's finished now.
