Turkey Dinner

Last night I dropped the boys off at my moms to spend the night (Easter vacation week).  The husband and I went to an appreciation dinner for Talley Farms at Wingate College. (pronounced WIN-GET)  Talley buys our corn, and pretty much everyone's corn around here, lol.  They grind feed for Tyson, and for their own turkey farm.  On the way to Wingate, I looked over at the husband and said, "I hope we are having a steak dinner."  He laughingly replied, " Oh, we will DEFINITELY be eating turkey."  Okay, okay, I should have put two and two together.  Biggest turkey farm around here equals turkey dinner.  Wingate is looking to branch out into the farming community and wants to offer programs for the kids coming from the farms and going to college.  They want to have grants for farm kids and all kinds of new classes.  The college needs input from local farmers about what is needed.  It was pretty exciting.  Then we had supper.  Or should I say, Thanksgiving dinner.  We had turkey (no surprises there), stuffing, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, rolls, salad, and some kind of cranberry something.  No, I didn't try it, I don't eat stuff like that, that looks suspect.  They also had carrot cake and sweet potato pie.  Oh, and amen to whomever made the tea, because it tasted EXACTLY like my moms.  I think I had about eight glasses of it!  The kids had a ball at Grandmama and Granddaddy's house.  The first thing G told me when we got home was, "Mama...I like Grandmama's tea.  It is GOOD!"  He normally doesn't drink tea.  I know I know, how can one survive in the South if they don't like sweet tea?  You may or may not be wondering what I did today with no kids.  Well I slept until eight, and then I went to Sam's for our monthly grocery shopping.  I topped off the afternoon by balancing the husbands checkbook, and finished it with a haircut, and then picked up the boys.  Exciting stuff.  All this talk about tea has me craving a big glass of some....gotta go.
