Egg Drop

Saturday after L had baseball practice, we had a quick lunch, and headed over to the Harrisburg Egg Drop.  Upon arrival to Harrisburg, it became very evident that EVERYONE and their brother had come for this event.  The businesses close to the park were packed to the gills with cars, and there were NO policemen directing traffic.  It is a miracle that there were no wrecks.  I drove up to the park and got the last parking space inside.  I was so grateful because I knew that bad weather was on its way and didn't really want to get soaked walking back to the car with four kids, and their assorted Easter baskets.  Everyone had to stand around the football field and wait for the helicopter to come and drop the eggs.  So many people were around that I was getting extremely worried about losing someone.  I gathered all of the boys together, and pointed out one of the goal-posts on the field.  I told them if we got separated to go to the post and not leave until I came for them.  The people in charge were playing music and drawing names for prizes while we waited.  There were also inflatables and food and drinks, all free.  We counted down for the helicopters arrival.  It was pretty neat watching it drop 20,000 eggs onto the field.  Then it turned and came back to drop out Chick-fil-A cows with parachutes on them.  One cow had a gold star, and the person who found it got free Chick-fil-A for a year.  The cows looked so cute coming down onto the field.  All of a sudden people started running onto the field, so I told the boys to go.  I grabbed onto the buddies hoods so they could gather eggs, and still be with me.  I had no clue where the big boys were.  The crush of bodies was intense.  The whole thing lasted about five minutes.  The buddies and I walked over to the goal-post to wait for the big boys.  I turned around to face the field, and when I turned back around to the post, there they were.  (insert huge sigh of relief here)  They both had allot of eggs, G had about 10, and poor S had some halves and various candy that had fallen out when the eggs hit the ground.  It was starting to drizzle and then the lightning and thunder started.  I was very aware that standing in the football field, beside of the goal-post, was quite possibly, the worst spot we could be in.  We ran over to the soccer field and I asked the boys to check their eggs for prizes.  They all decided it would be better to get in the car and not worry about the prizes.  After we were all loaded and waiting in some major traffic, W shouts out that he won a prize.  I left L in the car with the buddies, and we ran back out in the wind, rain, lightning, and thunder to the stage.  We handed a dude his number, and he handed W a Sony PSP.  I almost died.  Talk about lucky!  He was ecstatic, to say the least.  We ran back to the car in the torrential rain, to find out that the traffic had not moved at all.  I wish you could have seen the look on L's face when he saw W's prize!  I told W he was like my brother, Shaun, when we were little.  The kid had the best luck of anyone I have ever known.  He would find money and win crap all the time.  It took us about 35 minutes to get out of that park.  After some policemen finally arrived to get things moving.  All in all, the kids had fun.  Especially W!
Oh, and the PSP?  That thing is awesome.  It has wireless internet, takes photos, downloads music, and plays games.  Who knew?

Wow! I wish they had adult easter egg hunts! :) I bet the rest of the boys are pretty jealous. Did you guys have fun anyway, even with all the people and chaos?

Okay, the egg drop sounds a bit stressful for a mama, but winning a PSP, totally makes it worth it. And what happened to Shaun's luck- I've never seen him win a thing, I guess he outgrew it or used up all his luckiness as a kid, lol.
