Another day....more snow

Sledding.
Tomorrow.....day four of no school.

Snow, snow and more snow

Well, after much speculation it came. The snow that is. Powdery white stuff. No school.
Let the playing began. Snow people, sledding, hiking, riding the 4 wheeler and Gator.
Feeding the squirrels and birds.
Guess what? I think we are all over it. Snow...go away. Back up North. Please. Tomorrow....day three of no school.

Sledding

Almost there. Can you see Mount in the distance? This is my favorite spot.
I saw this tree and it looked so pretty. I couldn't pass up on all of the vibrant colors against it. I told them all to give me the thumbs up, but some people can't move their thumbs with the ski gloves on.
Bottom of the hill. It is a long walk back up.
Getting pulled behind the four wheeler. This is how we normally sled. We haven't been able to sled the old fashioned way in about 6 years.
Grandpa, Landon and the boys. This was trouble. Sort of like watching sledding bumper cars. ;) No school today. Freezing rain tomorrow, and more snow Friday. Looks like we are going to get some more sledding in.

SNOW

I finally talked everyone into wearing their ski pants, and we headed toward the biggest hills in the pasture.
These were all taken on the walk there. The buddies tried out a small slope beside the barn.
Levi gives Wyatt a push.

Yep, everyone left me. My theory was, if we walk there, we will build up body heat and be warmer. Their's was.... to get there faster, and freeze all the way there. :)

Snow

It started snowing yesterday evening. Snowed off and on all night, and is still snowing. Hubs and I were awakened by a weird sound outside. Seems Wyatt has been sledding since 7:30am. Ahhhh, to be 10 again. Stay tuned for pics if I can ever get up the nerve to go outside. It is soooooo warm in here.

Weather

Not allot going on around here. Just the usual homework, feeding the chickens and cows, and making feed for across the street. The biggest news is the weather. After weeks of temps below freezing, we had two weeks of low 60's. Glorious as it was, it thawed out the ground and made everything a darn, muddy mess. Then the rain started. Of course, flooded land followed, as did school closings, and delays. One of Levi's friends had to ride in a canoe to dry road with the firemen, and then get on the bus. Levi himself was on the bus for an hour and 20 minutes that day, driving around all the flooded bridges. The massive wind came right behind that. The boys told me that the power kept going off and on at school the other day. Now the biggest news is the temps are dropping again. Friday they are calling for snow mixed with sleet. Saturday the chance goes up to 80 percent. Oh yeah, I am "super" excited. Those whom know me well, know that I don't like the white stuff at home. Do you know what happens after cold, then two weeks of short sleeves, followed by white stuff? SNOT! Colds, coughing, ear infections, oh my. Can't wait.

More Snow

More snow pics for the family.
Some of you may or may not remember, but it poured down rain the whole week-end before it snowed the other week.
This probably hindered what we could have gotten in the snow department. It was allot fluffier and deeper, but it was melting very quickly.
Not that I am complaining, y'all know I don't function well when the temp drops below 50 degrees. (this is how we "farm folk" sled, attach anything slippery to the Gator or 4-wheeler, and let it rip)
BUT, the bottoms were flooded from the rain. The hubs has never seen them flooded during a snow storm. (note: this is the other side of Teeter Bottoms for those of you trying to figure it out)

It feels so crazy to be posting these with my sunburned face and arms. Oh, and did I mention that the AC is running. It was 78 degrees in the house this evening. Whew!

Brief Update

Well, Sunday I got the flu from the kids. It is the kind that slowly gets worse the longer you have it. So, yeah, I feel like death right now. Sunday evening it started snowing. It snowed and snowed for hours. That hasn't happened here in years. It took the hubs 40 minutes to make it to my parents house to get the boys after their Washington trip (normally it is a 15 minute drive). There hasn't been any school since last Friday. Y'all know what that probably means, either Saturday school or they will start taking away Spring Break. Today was supposed to be a two hour delay, but they cancelled it around 5:30 this morning. Yep, I LOVE the superintendent waking me up after I have been up all night because I can't breathe out of my nose, and when I breathe out of my mouth I start coughing, just to find out that there will be no school. Good times. Hopefully there will be school tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed.

What snow?

Last Wednesday morning my mom called.  

Mom- Hey, I guess school was cancelled in your county too?

Me- Yeah, but I don't know why... we have had heavier frosts than what we got last night.
Mom- Really?  Bethany, David and your Dad are out sledding in the snow.

Me- What snow?

Mom- We got several inches.  More than last last time.

Me- SERIOUSLY?
Mom- Yeah, are your boys playing in it?

Me- We didn't get anything worthy of donning three layers of clothes.  But, Levi did get to go to the Farm Show with Landon this morning, since there was no school.
Me- I might bring the boys over there to sled.

Mom- No, don't the roads are pretty bad around here.

Clearly we aren't going to get a good snowing this year!

Snow Angels

Kids in the South have dreams about snow.  They include a short wish list of activities including making a snow angel, sledding, a snow ball fight, and building a snow man.  
The twins decide to give it a go.
G demonstrates to S what he has seen kids do on TV.
They examine their handiwork.
And give up.  Hot chocolate sounds more fun right now.

Ya'll are NOT going to believe this.  My brother-in-law just called and told us to go look outside.  It is SNOWING people.  Snowing.  Last week it was 74 degrees and tonight it is snowing.  February in the South is CRAZY.
