The First Day

First day thoughts.......
Wyatt got home extremely early. He is the second person off of the bus, instead of the last person off of the bus. Right now, he isn't happy about that, because he wants to socialize with his bus friends, but I am over-joyed by it for the buddies sake. Their first day will be Friday, and then they will be on the bus with Wyatt. Wyatt said fifth grade was awesome, and he likes his homeroom teacher, who will also be his Science teacher. The fifth grade uses "Hands On Science" instead of using a boring science book. He said his teacher was "crazy" about science and she was funny, lol. They have also introduced behavior levels, just like the middle school. Hopefully he will stay on Gold all year.
Levi wasn't happy when he arrived home, because when school ended at 4, all of the buses weren't at the school yet. (who didn't see that coming) He had to sit in the auxiliary gym for half an hour and wait on his bus to get there. He was the last person off at 5:30. I asked him how his day went and he replied, "Two words...... PARENT DRIVE!" We are going to give them one week to get their act together. There are 20 buses parked, so pull three more back into service people. Other than the bus fiasco, he said seventh grade was okay. He is a Centaur and his AIG math is pre-Algebra (what would be Algebra 1 A in high school). He has allot of male teachers this year, and said the first day was mostly every teacher going over the rules for that class. Cross your fingers for a great day two!

With the exception of the late bus it sounds like everything went fairly well.
Wish we had hands on science rather than book back when I was the 5th grade.

Ralph, me too. Yes, anyone with half a brain (not the school board members) could have predicted major problems with the schools sharing buses.

It sounds like it went really well! Hopefully, after a few days they'll get the buses worked out.

What do you mean? They start at 9 and end at 4. Then they sit somewhere and wait for the freaking buses to show up for 20-30 minutes. I asked L who was staying with them. The principal and the 2 vice principals. He said they were on the phone the whole time. "Good", I replied. I hope someone is getting an earful!

Okay, the whole bus thing is CRAZY!!! I remember riding the bus in elem. sch. for an hour and a half every day on the way home. It was awful. I see things have not gotten any better.

I may shed a tear on Friday. The buddies going to school...CAll me and let me know how things went or come have lunch with me! I get off work at 11:30, then I'm going to the mall to buy shoes for the swig.

I know where you're gonna end up, at least one Friday. IKEA. We're still on for next Friday, right?

Do your buddies go to all day kindergarten being so far away?? I can't believe Levi got home at 5:30. Poor kid.

Sounds like 5th grade will be fun this year though! I hope my boys adjust soon so I can relax and enjoy my EXTRA time :)

Yes, Kindergarten is all day here. The first week they only go one day, because the kindergarten assessment takes so long. The teachers have four or five kids each day. Monday, everyone will be there.
