12: part 2

A strange woman was in my face as I was waking up. "Honey? You need to wake up. You had a c-section hon." And I went back to sleep. It was an awesome sleep. Quite possibly the best sleep of my life and I did NOT want to wake up. I could hear ladies talking and coming and going, but my eyes were closed. "Honey, you have to wake up now. You had a boy. Your husband told me to tell you he named him Moses." Oh, I don't think so, I thought. And I was awake. For some reason I couldn't talk. My throat was parched. The ladies turned out to be nurses, and they started laughing when I snapped at attention. "Sorry hon, you just haven't wanted to wake up. So your husband told me to tell you he named the baby Moses, and that would do it." Then I heard a nurse telling someone I was awake and to come on in. It was Landon. He was smiling from ear to ear. "Did they tell you? It's a boy. He is HUGE!" Huge, okay, I thought, remembering the doctors guesstimate of 6 pounds. "He weighed 8 pounds 3 ounces, and is 21 inches long. He has HAIR." A nurse chimed in, "Honey, he has allot of hair. Did you have heart burn?" I shook my head no. "Can I have some Pepsi", I whispered. They told me when I got to my room I could have something to drink, and then moved me to another bed. Upon entering the hallway, we passed the nursery. The nurses brought out the baby. They weren't kidding about the hair. The kid had a hair-do, for pete's sake. It was reddish brown and curly. We had already agreed that if we had a boy we would name him Levi. It is a family name and we both loved it. The middle name was supposed to be Landon, but Landon was afraid that this would be our only boy (stop laughing) and talked me into changing it to Lipe, which was his grandfathers name. Levi Lipe.... it fit. It was different, and we both love names that not many others have. I agreed. This boy, this baby, this 8 pound 3 ounce bundle of perfection with hair, was ours. He was born after midnight, so it was now May the 3rd, 1997.

Happy Birthday Levi!!!!

i remember--it was the night of somebody's graduation and Daddy and I left the graduation party to come meet Levi. I remember looking in the nursery window with Landon and telling him at least he wouldn't have a problem finding his kid in the nursery since Levi had a lima bean head for the first couple of days from being stuck in the birth canal :).

That is some nice sleep, isn't it. When I was put under, I didn't want to wake up either. That's funny that the name is what brought you around!

Happy Birthday Levi!!!

These two entries were fairly riveting reading. I'm glad I'm old and won't have to go thru all that again.
Our oldest was the first Lamaze baby to go thru our local hospital. When I got dressed in my little green outfit the nurses thought I was the DR and started asking me questions. I answered but probably shouldn't have.

I saw Bethany Saturday. She was getting her done for the prom. She is so grown up. Landon and Levi stopped by the house in the old Jeep Sunday. Chad remembered Levi's birthday. I was surprised. I do good to remember my own!

He was here when we were unloading the groceries the other day and saw the birthday cake. That is why he remembered.
