Winterplace

Sunday we packed up and drove to West Virginia with my family, some friends, and the youth group.  Let me just say that the thought of taking two five year olds skiing was terrifying to me!  We could NOT have done it without my mom.  That is her in the green, then S, G, Levi and me.
She just stepped right in, or should I say "skied" right in and showed us how to do it.  Next thing I knew, we were going down the slope and getting on a chair lift with the buddies and Wyatt.
Here is a pick of Bethany and Levi in front of Landon, you can see how foggy it was getting.  It got heavier as the day went on.  Bethany and David are quite the little snow boarders, and my dad can ski his socks off.  He was making me nervous skiing that fast!
And here is S and me, followed by Cathy, Mom, and Wyatt in the rear.  Wyatt was so funny.  He said he hadn't fallen all day, and then he rode on the lift with Grandmama and she somehow fell on him and he fell down.
Landon and G mugging for the camera.  I loved the lift operators at Winterplace.  Anytime they saw a child in the line they would slow down the lift for them.
Bethany took this shot for us.  This is how we went down the slopes with the buddies.  They just stood in between our skies, and held onto our legs or poles.  It works quite well.  In fact by the end of the day, we weren't holding them at all.  They just held onto our legs if they needed to and we just held our poles.
Awww, isn't he just too cute!!!!  Wyatt and Levi were amazing.  This was only their second time skiing, and they just took right off.  In fact, Levi didn't even ski with us until the end of the day.  He was off with a friend.  Some tips we learned the hard way (from last time) are: take several pairs of gloves for each boy, so they always have a dry pair, take extra socks, and last but most important..... take your own food and drinks.  The stuff there costs a fortune, lol.

I'm so glad you guys skiied with us this year! I enjoyed skiing with you. In fact, I think I do better holding onto a 5 year old than skiing alone! Levi and Wyatt are already doing so well. Hope you guys have a great week.

Looks like you had a ball! Skiing is just not for me. That is where Landon's dad took me the first time, he got the hang of it,s so do the other friends, and left me behind. I admit, when I would fall
I would have a terrible time getting back up. Eventually, after a few falls, I gave up, my back was hurting, so I quit.

But, I guess it is better to learn early!

Glad you had fun, and thankful Landon is taking time from work, to do family things! Landon, I am proud of you!

Love
Mom

Looks like a great time - Skiing is not for me - that involves balance and skill... and I have no balance!
