Friday Fun

Well we made it through the fire-station.  The BIG one in Concord.   Does anyone else ever wonder what would happen if the siren went off during the field trip... or just me?  Also, did y'all know that is where the 911 calls are answered?  That was pretty cool.   After the field trip the buddies and I braved the cold and ran to Lowe's.... again.  Why aren't all Lowe's laid out in the same manner?   Is it to confuse us?  Make us spend more time wandering around?  My "short" trip turned into me searching for everything, and not finding the darn chair leg sliders, and then waiting twenty minutes for someone to come to the paint department.  That lady pointed in a direction and then left me.  Hello?  Last time I checked I can't mix my own paint.  Then I got a teenager who was more confused than me.  He called for back-up, and FINALLY someone came and got it done.  Ended up having a great conversation, with a complete stranger about some woman she saw in Cracker Barrel who is having triplets.  Yes, I know, I need my own reality show.   Don't even get me started on the search for the bathroom, or G being a huge pain in the rear.  From there we went to the little mall to see if I could exchange the shoes that I bought at the Mills.  That was the smoothest transaction all day.  As long as you have a receipt, Rack Room doesn't care where you bought them.  We were in and out and off to Wal-mart.  I had to buy hose just in case I completely lose my mind and decide to wear a dress to my cousins wedding this evening.  We finally returned home at 1:30.  I started painting and stopped at 4 to let it dry and see if the doors need a third coat.   Want to know something funny?  I painted the spindles on the stairs a beige color.  They were so dingy, I kept losing my place.  The old "color" (I use that term loosely) and the new color are almost identical.  Around 10:45 last night I gave up, walked into the kitchen and told the hubs to call the painter down the street.  Being the smart man he is, he said "Okay".  He knew that it all would look better in the morning.

Yes, I'm supposed to be painting.
The combine will get at least blown off but right now it's a bit too cold to fire up the big pressure washer. I'm not that tough. We'll clean the combine before we take it over to the big shed for the winter. That shed is about two miles from home but it's big enough to put the big stuff in so I can use the litlle building here. It's only 50 X 100 and is close to the house so I just keep the semi and boats and that kind of stuff here. We have enough cats so that I don't have to worry about mice in vihicles.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who can have strange conversations with complete strangers while waiting in a store!

I understand the whole painting thing and knowing that sometimes you just have to wait until the next day and it's fine.

Is there something in the air? That's about how my Saturday went. Oh, and the cashier at Target will start weird conversations with you when you come through the check out buying 4 bottles of various types of Liquid Plumber - don't ask, I have boys.

I've been touring a firehouse with kids once when a call came in. The firefighters just ran away saying, "Thanks, come back again. The door will lock behind you when you leave!" It was the weirdest feeling to be left alone in their "house" and letting ourselves out.
